XRP may be included in the US crypto reserve

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse spoke in favour of creation of the US national digital reserve, which would include not only Bitcoin (BTC) and XRP, but also other cryptocurrencies. He discussed this idea with President Donald Trump, emphasizing the importance of creating a diversified portfolio to ensure the stability of the financial system. This was reported by Walter Bloomberg.

In a conversation with Trump, Harlinghaus emphasized that the US reserves should reflect the entire range of cryptocurrencies, and not be limited to one token. The Ripple CEO also emphasized that despite the initial tensions with the crypto industry, the US president now supports it, recognizing the potential for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Interestingly, in addition to XRP, Garlinghouse himself owns Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). Garlinghouse has sharply criticized maximalism in the crypto space, which implies the dominance of only one cryptocurrency, calling it the enemy of the crypto industry’s progress.

The use of Ripple for global payments is becoming increasingly popular among financial institutions. The company has already launched the Ripple USD stablecoin (RLUSD)which will be available within the payment system this year.

Last week The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has eliminated the requirement of SAB 121which imposed restrictions on banks regarding custody services for crypto assets. The move was the result of support from Congress, which voted to repeal SAB 121 last year.
