Larian Studios has achieved a significant financial success with the release of the role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3. Pros data According to the Irish Independent, the studio’s total revenue last year amounted to €427 million, and pre-tax profit reached €249 million. The same publication reports that the game’s sales in 2023 reached 15 million copies.
The popularity of Baldur’s Gate 3 continues in 2024. According to the studio’s publisher, Michael Daus, the daily number of users increased by 20%, and even representatives of the Vatican appeared among the game’s buyers.
This success is in stark contrast to Larian’s financial performance two years ago. In 2022, the company received only €22.7 million in revenue, which is almost 20 times less than the current figure, and ended the year with a loss of €214,000.
The studio is currently working on two projects new role-playing projects outside the Dungeons & Dragons universe. At the same time, Hasbro, the owner of the D&D franchise, is negotiating the fourth installment of the Baldur’s Gate series and developing another game in the D&D universe.
