Apple TV+ after success «Gap» and «Ted Lasso» has prepared a new hit for the audience — at least, this is evidenced by the reviews of critics who, even before the official release, rated the series The Studio in perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
«Studio» — is a satirical series that mocks the work of Hollywood studios. Idea not newbut this time it offers an interesting cast, including Seth Rogen, Catherine O’Hara, Ike Barneyholtz, Paul Dano, Olivia Wilde, Charlize Theron, Anthony Mackie, and others. A little spoiler: in the first episode, the following will make cameo appearances Martin Scorsese and Steve Buscemi.
Rogen plays Matt Remick, who aspires to make art films but is forced to focus on commercial hits due to a sudden promotion. One of them is a movie about the Kool-Aid drink.
So far, 23 reviews have been published on Rotten Tomatoes, praising the series as a «comedy masterpiece» and noting the directing, the cast — and everything else a television show can consist of. Here are some direct quotes from the reviews of specialized publications.
- Jacob Fisher, Discussing Film: «This is one of the best television shows you can find on streaming today. The creative duo of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg show that their comedy roots are still thriving by creating an inventive and hilarious laugh-out-loud antics. When the main problem with a show is that it’s too short, someone is doing something right».
- Ruth Laws, Metro: «I want you to take out your calendars, find March 26, cross out any plans and circle that day with a huge red circle, because that’s when the best show of 2025 will premiere. You’ll laugh out loud, cringe in embarrassment, marvel at the masterful cinematography, and admire the best performances: from Martin Scorsese to Zac Efron».
- Angie Hahn, The Hollywood Reporter: «There were moments when I could barely see the screen at all — sometimes because I was looking through my fingers, but mostly because I was laughing so hard. The great humor of The Studio isn’t for everyone; even if it mellows out in the second half of the season, it remains too intense to be tamed or left in the background. This is a serious contender for Best New Comedy of 2025».
