New ChatGPT features allow users to use the chatbot as a search engine.
In the company’s blog reported that the new features will allow users to search for «relevant» information. Answers generated by ChatGPT will contain links to «relevant web sources». These links can be found by clicking on the «Sources» button below the automatically generated answers, which will open a sidebar with the relevant web pages. A prototype of the search functions called SearchGPT became available in July.
«ChatGPT can now search the Internet much better than before. You can get fast, relevant answers with links to relevant web sources that you used to have to use a search engine to find», — the company wrote in its blog.
OpenAI also announced a partnership with «news and data providers» to provide «users with up-to-date information and new visual designs for categories such as weather, stocks, sports, news and maps». Among the organizations partnering with OpenAI are the Associated Press, Axel Springer, Condé Nast, Dotdash Meredith, Financial Times, GEDI, Hearst, Le Monde, News Corp, Prisa (El País), Reuters, The Atlantic, Time and Vox Media.
As a reminder, OpenAI has started testing a separate program ChatGPT for Windows. But currently, only users of the paid version of the service can use it.
