Breathing in the atmosphere of Avowed has become even more realistic — Obsidian offers fans to grow edible «fantasy» mushrooms.
The game has become known for its mushroom setting, in particular for the way it mycelium sprouted right out of the Avowed characters. The studio decided not to stop with this gimmick, and therefore, in collaboration with North Spore, released an official kit for growing edible mushrooms. Fortunately (or unfortunately), they won’t start changing minds and make you part of the infected forest.
A box of blue, pink or golden oyster mushrooms costs $30. All you have to do is open the front of the package, cut an X in the plastic and regularly spray the «home Avowed» with water from the sprayer that comes with it. The mushrooms will start to break through after a few days or start to «live their own life».
«It’s pretty straightforward. If you don’t do anything, eventually the mushrooms will find their way out… They’ll just burst out of the box», — warns North Spore co-founder Matt McInnis.
The kit gives you at least two harvests of mushrooms. But with a little work, you can even transplant them into the ground to grow them longer.
«We want more people to be growing mushrooms at home. They’re incredibly easy to grow, and you can grow them on a countertop, or if you’re a gardener, they’re great for adding to a garden. We try to produce a ton of educational content to demystify mushrooms»,— says McInnis.
We also added an interesting detail for Avowed fans — you can download an Avowed bear template for 3D printing. Then the mushrooms will sprout right out of his body.
The co-founder of North Spore hinted that such a collaboration might not be the last. In general, the mushroom theme is present in The Last of Us, Dark Souls, Hollow Knight, and, of course, Super Mario.
«If you know anyone from the Last of Us team, send this over to them! I honestly think it’d be super fun to do more of this stuff», — Matt adds.
Obsidian developers believe that Baldur’s Gate 3 has become a success, as they expect on Avowed, thanks to completely different passages and hidden content. It turned out that you can still have an affair in the game, but only one romantic relationship was found there.
