The events of the new series “Prison Break” will take place in the same universe as the original, but will likely focus on new characters.
Currently, Hulu has ordered a pilot episode, which will be directed by “The Outlaws” co-creator Elgin James.
In July, the executive producer of the original “Prison Break” told Deadline that “development is going well” and the script is “well-made.”
The first season of “Prison Break” debuted back in 2005, telling the story of Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), who went to prison to free his brother Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell). Subsequent seasons (a total of five) continued the story of a group of escapees hiding from the FBI and secret government agencies, and also brought several deaths of key characters.
Besides Miller and Purcell, the series featured Robin Tunney, Peter Stormare, Robert Knepper, Amaury Nolasco, Wade Williams, and others. Deadline reported that the original characters will not be central to the plot, but we’re hoping for at least a cameo.
