Peripheral manufacturer 8BitDo releases an officially licensed Xbox-style keyboard.
Previously, the company released its Retro Keyboard in NES and Famicom colors. Then it released a special C64 Edition based on the keyboard of the Commodore 64 home computer, and the M Edition — in style of the classic IBM Model M 1985.
The 8BitDo Retro 87 Xbox Edition mechanical keyboard has a transparent green plastic, just like the original console. It is equipped with Kailh Jellyfish X switches, a replaceable PCB board, two-layer ABS keys with a matte UV coating, programmable buttons, and fully customizable RGB backlighting.
The keyboard is compatible with Windows and Android devices, and it comes with one set of large, programmable double super buttons. Also included are separate volume controls, an Xbox button to open the Game Bar, a 2.4G adapter, and a 2000 mAh battery. 8BitDo claims that the battery lasts for 200 hours of use on a single charge.
The 8BitDo Retro R8 Mouse — Xbox Edition has the same unique transparent green color for the top of the body. It features a PAW 3395 sensor, Kailh Sword GM X switches, and programmable red and green side buttons. The polling rate and DPI can also be customized through the company’s Ultimate Software application.
It can connect to devices via Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless, or a wired connection. A charging dock in the same color scheme is also included.
8BitDo Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard and Retro R8 Mouse Xbox Editions will be released on January 16, 2025, with pre-orders available now for $119.99 and $59.99, respectively.
