It’s not often that Adobe gives something away for free.
Adobe has opened up free access to all the features of the app Fresco for digital drawing and painting. The company has canceled the freemium model, which it had been using since 2019. From now on, users will have full access to more than a thousand brushes and all premium features without a monthly subscription.
Fresco works on iOS, iPadOS, and Windows devices. The application supports Apple Pencil and Surface Pen styluses, which allows you to create digital artwork with maximum accuracy and comfort.
The free version now includes an expanded library of tools. Adobe has added brushes for dry media, calligraphy, charcoal, pastels, inks, comics, and special effects. Users can also import their own brushes.
Adobe has also improved the program’s technical characteristics. The developers have added support for tactile feedback, tilt and rotation functions for the Apple Pencil. A symmetry tool for quickly creating complex compositions and a vector trimmer for cleaning up contours have been added.
Adobe’s decision to make Fresco free will intensify competition with Procreate — the market leader in digital drawing applications.
As a reminder, Adobe recently introduced announced a number of new AI-powered features for its Creative Cloud apps during the annual Adobe Max conference.
