Family animated movie «Wild Robot» with an almost perfect score and could have earned less if «Terrifier 3» hadn’t been released in theaters at the same time.
«Terrifier 3» — is one of the few films that did not receive a rating. Nevertheless, it surprised the movie industry this weekend when it grossed $19 million during its premiere. The movie was made for $2 million and deliberately left without an MPA rating.
In fact, «Terrifier 3» was seen in theaters by more people than paid for it. The cinemas that screen the film, including the three largest American chains AMC, Cinemark, and Regal, treat the horror as an R-rated movie and do not allow anyone under the age of 17 to attend screenings without a parent or guardian.
Box office sources say there was a noticeable spike in ticket sales for «Wild Robot» last weekend, noting that teens are likely to buy tickets for the cartoon and then sneak in for «Terrifier 3».
«Terrifier 3» will not be the last movie in the franchise. Director Damian Leon has confirmed that he is directing «Terrifier 4» and that there is a possibility for another film after it «Wild Robot» will also get a sequel because of its box office success, which is due, among other things, to horror.
