During the 2024 Chery Global Innovation Conference, the company showed a prototype of its flying car called Land and Air Vehicle. Chery reported that the prototype is still under development, but has already successfully flown a test distance of about 80 km.
The Land and Air Vehicle is a triple-hull hybrid flying car consisting of three parts: an airplane, an intelligent cockpit, and an intelligent chassis. They are combined into a single vehicle that has neither a steering wheel nor an accelerator pedal.
According to Chery, the flying car can switch between autonomous flight and autonomous ground driving modes, designed for short-distance travel in urban areas to reduce congestion problems. In flight mode, it can take off and land vertically.
According to preliminary information, the Chery flying car is based on the scalable architecture of the Chery S2ma intelligent Mars and is designed to carry two people. The flight altitude is less than 1000 m, the maximum flight speed reaches 120 km/h, and the flight time is about 40 minutes.
