Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk said he would create a new game studio under the auspices of his company xAI. The decision came after a discussion on Twitter about the state of the modern gaming industry.
The discussion was started by BillyM2k, who criticized current trends in game development: «I don’t understand how developers and game journalism have fallen under ideological influence. Gamers have always stood up to greedy corporations and rejected manipulation».
«Too many game studios are owned by huge corporations. xAI will create a game studio with artificial intelligence to «bring games back to greatness»!», — wrote Musk on November 27.
In October, a fan asked Musk about the possibility of creating his own game studio, mentioning the problem with «prioritizing» pronouns in games. The entrepreneur replied: «Creating a game studio would be an exciting thing to do. I truly love video games, and I think that applying artificial intelligence can make them incredible».
The entrepreneur expressed concern about the impact of diversity and inclusion (DEI) policies on the gaming industry: «When something is forced into a game, it destroys the art and takes away from the story. Let me just enjoy video games».
Community X (Twitter) is active supported Musk’s initiative. «We really need this, Elon! All the games that have been released in recent years are terrible!» – wrote one of the users. «Wow, xAI is starting to make games. Wow!» added another. «This is the right way to go», — summarized a third.
As a reminder, Musk recently reached the first place in the global ranking of Diablo 4.
