According to rumors, Elon Musk is interested in acquiring Intel. It is also said that Qualcomm and Global Foundries are somehow involved in the deal.
The publication SemiAnalysis assesses the probability of Intel’s acquisition at 90%. According to the site, Elon Musk is one of the key players in the potential deal. Dylan Patel from SemiAnalysis supported the information with a post on X, where he highlighted Musk’s involvement in the negotiations — supposedly the planes of the three interested parties gathered in Florida. In addition to Musk, Qualcomm and Global Foundries also participate in the negotiations. The negotiations could have taken place at Mar-a-Lago, the residence of Donald Trump.

Christopher Dayne, an analyst at Citibank, critically assessed these rumors. He considers the potential acquisition problematic for Intel unless the company appoints a CEO who will manage the exit from the lithographic business. However, Musk’s influence could be beneficial for Intel, especially if he provides financial resources for a fundamental transformation of the company.
Rumors about Musk’s involvement have already impacted the market: Intel’s shares have risen nearly 10%. Clearly, investors perceive the potential deal positively, especially in the context of the current political situation in the USA. Even if the report remains just a speculation, the market’s reaction alone demonstrates that such scenarios should not be ruled out.
