Epic Games Store started the seventh holiday video game giveaway. This time, users can get Dredge — an adventure game with horror elements based on the works of Howard Lovecraft for free, with a regular price of 515₴.
Dredge combines a fishing simulator, horror elements, and exploration to create a unique gaming experience. In the role of a fishing trawler captain, players arrive in the mysterious town of Little Marrow, where they catch and sell fish during the day, modernize their vessel, and encounter paranormal phenomena and creepy creatures hiding in the dark waters at night.
The system of day and night directly affects the character’s mental state: the longer the hero stays in the dark, the more he is exposed to fear and hallucinations, and ordinary sea creatures turn into horrific creatures inspired by Lovecraft’s work.
The game’s archipelago consists of seven unique regions, each with its own secrets, ecosystems, and more than 125 species of marine life. Fulfilling orders from locals for rare species of fish, players gradually uncover the island’s gruesome history. Improving the trawler opens up access to new territories and depths, where the most valuable catches and the most dangerous creatures await them.
Dredge has been recognized by critics and gamers since its release in March 2023. The game received an average score of 80/100 on Metacritic and 82/100 on Opencritic as well as nominations for prestigious awards such as Golden Joystick Awards, The Game Awards, D.I.C.E.
