Hyundai announces compact electric crossover Creta Electric with a range of up to 473 km

Hyundai has officially presented an electric version of the Creta crossover. This model has an updated appearance and better dynamic performance than the version with an internal combustion engine.

The front end of the Hyundai Creta Electric features a split pixelated grille, and the lower bumper has active aerodynamic flaps to improve efficiency. The rear bumper also features a pixelated design and is complemented by an aluminum skid plate-style overlay. The car is equipped with new 17-inch aerodynamic wheels, and the launch version is presented in a bright metallic Ocean Blue color.

Although Hyundai has not yet disclosed the details of the powertrain, it is assumed that the car will have a single electric motor with traction to the front wheels. The manufacturer claims that the Creta Electric can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, which is faster than the gasoline version of the Creta N Line. Two batteries will be available to users:

  • 42 kWh — range up to 389 km
  • 51.4 kWh — range up to 473 km

The electric vehicle supports fast charging, allowing the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in 58 minutes using a DC charger. For home use, a standard 11-kilowatt AC charger is available, which fully charges the smaller battery in 4 hours. There is a small front storage compartment for storing charging cables. The charging port is located behind the Hyundai logo on the front bumper.

The Creta Electric’s interior has also been updated, with a new steering wheel and gearshift similar to the one used in the Ioniq 5. The center console has a knob for selecting one of three driving modes: Eco, Normal and Sport. The digital instrument cluster includes two 10.25-inch displays with new graphics. Thanks to the V2L (vehicle-to-load) function, users can connect electronic devices via a socket under the rear seat.

The official debut of the Hyundai Creta Electric is scheduled for January 17, when detailed specifications and prices will be revealed. Initially, the model will be available only in the Indian market, but Hyundai is considering exporting it to other countries.
