Vehicle manufacturer «Etalon» has released an electric city bus «Malva Electro A08611». This is a prototype that has now passed all the tests and is being prepared for certification.
The «Malva Electro» electric bus is based on the «Malva» A08621 diesel city bus, which debuted last year and has already entered mass production. The traction high-voltage equipment is supplied by «Informservice» from Moldova.
The new electric bus is a relatively compact city model with a length of 9.5 meters and a weight of 12.5 tons. The vehicle is equipped with a 190 hp (140 kW) DTA-140-4U1 electric motor and a 185 kWh lithium-ion battery located on the roof. The range is 200 km.
The «Malva Electro» electric bus has 24 seats (plus two folding seats) and 29 standing seats, and there is also a place for a wheelchair. It has a low floor and is adapted for the transportation of people with disabilities. The bus is equipped with air conditioning for the driver, and air conditioning for the passenger compartment can be installed at an additional cost. It is also possible to install an autonomous diesel-fueled liquid interior heater.
«This solution makes it possible to better adapt to the winter operating conditions in Ukraine and provides a longer range on a single charge»,” the video presentation says.
It is also reported that there are cameras, LED optics and a door for connecting a charger. It is noted that the characteristics of the Ukrainian electric bus generally correspond to those of foreign analogues, and their further improvement will be achieved through the use of the latest batteries and traction drives, as well as some traditional units and components for electric buses.
As for the price of an electric bus «Malva Electro», it is approximately three times higher than the cost of a diesel bus, which is about €100-110 thousand (excluding VAT). However, the Ukrainian version will be cheaper than Polish and Turkish counterparts with the same capabilities and length, which cost about €530-550 thousand (excluding VAT). For comparison, the price of a Ukrainian 12-meter trolleybus with autonomous running is about €400 thousand, and the Czech one is €700 thousand.
