Microsoft has quietly removed a webpage that was supposed to contain a guide to uninstalling the built-in Microsoft Edge browser. Users were directed to a page praising Edge over its main competitor Chrome.
Windows 11 customers have noticed that the «How to uninstall Microsoft Edge» actually leads to a site that compared the two browsers mentioned above. It had a comparison chart of Edge and Chrome, which gave Microsoft’s browser a clean victory.

An attempt to find a way to uninstall Edge via Bing led to a page that looked like an official Microsoft manual. After clicking on the link, the user was redirected to a general page about the browser.
When users noticed and were outraged that they were being misled, — the company quietly removed the fake guide. Microsoft added a link to a page advertising the browser and its features: built-in Copilot, vertical tabs, improved energy efficiency, etc.
Edge is deeply integrated into Windows 11, many of the known ways to uninstall it don’t work at the moment. There are still options, but there’s no guarantee that a Windows update won’t bring the browser back. The easiest way is to install your favorite browser and ignore Edge.
Microsoft has not commented on the removal of the page, so it is impossible to say whether it was done by mistake or intentionally.

Microsoft has already been accused of cheating forced people to use Bing instead of Chrome. The corporation then removed the interface that disguised its search engine as a competitor, refusing to provide comments.
