NVIDIA CEO calls Elon Musk a superhuman — builds supercomputer fast (and buys lots of chips)

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang explained how the company is changing the field of computing and that NVIDIA is not like the «bubbles» dotcom times. He called Musk’s creation of an AI supercomputer in 19 days superhuman.

In a recent interview with Altimeter Capital, Huang says that NVIDIA’s continued growth is not like the hype surrounding Cisco at the top of the «bubble» dotcom bubble. He believes that NVIDIA is «revitalizing computing» and that the future of technology will be about «high levels of machine learning».

The NVIDIA CEO reiterates that Moore’s law in its classical form no longer works. In order to get the necessary growth in computing power, data centers will need about $1 trillion worth of GPUs over the next 4-5 years.

The part of the talk that caused the hype was Huang’s story about how Musk’s company xAI was able to connect 200 thousand NVIDIA chips at a super-fast pace and run them in its own data center. The whole process took only 19 days — usually, the whole set of actions takes much longer.

«…To build a huge liquid-cooled, energized factory, to get permits in a short time, as it was done… I mean, what it is something superhuman (superhuman). He is. And as far as I know, there’s only one person in the world who could do that, I mean, Elon is unique in understanding engineering, construction and large systems, and resource allocation».

AT NVIDIA all rightThe demand for AI chips is so high that the stock of AI chips is sold out for the next 12 months There is an opinionI think that such praise for a client, even a powerful one, is a bit much, and that Musk did not create all this alone, and that his exclusivity as a manager is exaggerated. Nevertheless, his frenetic way of working, which allows him to achieve goals in a very short time, as well as the organizational skills required for this, are well known.
