The movie, which Tarantino spoke about, received favorable reviews from critics and audiences.
The director of the cult «Pulp Fiction» shared an unexpected choice during the Video Archives podcast (via World of Reel). In his opinion, the movie «Pig» with Nicolas Cage deserves the highest rating.
«Watching Cage’s work, I was incredibly impressed by the movie Pig. It’s one of the best films I’ve seen in the last five years,» Tarantino shared his impressions.
«Pig» tells the story of Rob, a hermit who lives in the forests of Oregon and searches for truffles with his pig. When the animal is kidnapped, the former chef returns to Portland to find it. But instead of the usual revenge action movie, the viewer gets a philosophical drama about loss, loneliness and passion for your work. The film received 97% from critics and 84% from the audience at Rotten Tomatoes.
Quentin especially noted the non-standard approach to the revenge genre («revenge-o-matics»).
«The film initially sets the viewer up for the familiar format we’ve seen in Cage’s recent work, but then creatively departs from that path,» he said.
Nicolas Cage himself considers «Pig» the pinnacle of his career. «It’s probably my best movie, and I can put it on a par with Leaving Las Vegas», — said actor.
This year, the director of «Pigs» Michael Sarnoski presented continuation «Quiet Place» and in 2025 will begin filming «The Death of Robin Hood» with Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer.
