In a recent interview for The New York Times, Ridley Scott said that «Saltburn» / Saltburn — «is the best movie I’ve seen this year». World of Reel publication writesthat the main actor of «Saltburn» Barry Keoghan was supposed to star in Scott’s film «Gladiator II», but according to the director, Keoghan «got stuck» in «Saltburn» and could not participate.
However, this does not match what Jeff Snyder heard, who wrotereported that Keoghan was simply fired from the movie. The reason for the firing was not disclosed. In an interview with the NYT, Scott alludes to Keoghan’s problems off the set, but defends him, saying: «I know he’s been difficult, but it’s been worth it. Just like with Joaquin [Phoenix], it’s worth it».
«Saltburn» — is a dramatic thriller about the strange and dark world of the British aristocracy. The film follows a young Oxford student, Oliver (Barry Keoghan), who finds himself in the middle of a whirlwind of events after being invited to spend the summer at Saltburne Manor by his charismatic and mysterious friend Felix (Jacob Elordi). As time goes on, Oliver begins to realize that Saltburn’s atmosphere hides dangerous secrets, and the line between friendship, mania, and horror becomes increasingly blurred.
The film also stars Rosamund Pike and Richard E. Grant as Felix’s parents, as well as Alison Oliver and Archie Madekwe. The film was directed by Emirald Fennell, who previously won an «Oscar» for Best Original Screenplay for «A Promising Girl» (2020). «Saltburn» received 71% from critics and 79% from audiences at Rotten Tomatoes.
