Information about the upcoming AMD RX 9070 series of graphics cards has been leaked online. It shows that the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 models are likely to have 16 GB of GDDR6 memory and offer a slight increase in the number of SPs (Stream Processors) compared to their RDNA 3-based counterparts.

As a reminder, AMD unveiled the new RDNA 4 graphics architecture at CES 2025, but did not reveal any details about the characteristics and performance of the upcoming graphics cards. AMD promised more details later this quarter.

The source claims that the AMD RX 9070 series will debut with PCIe 5.0 support, similar to the Nvidia Blackwell series. The RX 9070 XT version will offer 4096 SP and 16GB of memory with a 256-bit interface and speed 20 Gbps. Assuming that AMD does not change the core layout with RDNA, this configuration equals 64 CUs (Compute Units). Due to the slower GDDR6 memory, the RX 9070 XT has a bandwidth of 640 GB/s, which is less than the RX 7900 series. The RX 9070 XT is likely to reach 2.97GHz (boost), so partner models should have no problem breaking the 3GHz barrier.

The regular RX 9070 retains 16 GB of memory, but will get fewer compute units: 3584 SP or 56 CU. With a memory configuration similar to its big brother, the RX 9070 can also deliver 640 GB/s of bandwidth. The base and boost frequencies are lower, now limited to 2.52GHz (boost), which is almost 500MHz less than the RX 9700 XT. This big drop should result in lower power consumption. To recap,The Radeon RX 9070 showed results similar to the RTX 4080 Super in Call of Duty Black Ops 6.
