After a successful weekend in theaters for the animated film «The Wild Robot», director Chris Sanders announced a sequel. According to him, the second movie is already in the works at DreamWorks Animation.
The other day, «The Wild Robot» passed the $100 million mark, which made it possible to talk about a sequel. Sanders confidently and positively answered questions about it:
«100% yes, there are plans for the second one».
Three-time «Oscar» nominee Chris Sanders, writer and director of DreamWorks Animation’s «How to Train Your Dragon», «The Croods» and «Lilo and Stitch» Disney films, has directed a feature-length animated film based on his own screenplay and children’s book by Peter Brown. «Wild Robot» is the first of a trilogy of books written by Brown. The second book is titled «Wild Robot Escape».
In «Wild Robot», «Oscar» winner Lupita Nyong’o voices ROZZUM unit 7134 — short for «Roz», a robot that is shipwrecked on a desert island and must learn to adapt to the harsh conditions and gradually build relationships with animals and even become the guardian of an orphaned gosling. Among other participants of the original voice acting is Pedro Pascal. Niongo says that the role was inspired by «AI voices such as Alexa and Siri».
«Alexa, Siri, and those voices on TikTok and Instagram that are so positive and never say anything bad. It’s an attitude that you can accept. This was the starting point for Roz and her path to self-realization and the evolution of self-expression».
«The Wild Robot» will be released in Ukrainian cinemas on October 17. The American premiere of the film took place on September 27. The movie received the best reviews from critics and audiences.
