AMD’s new Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor has only recently gone on sale and has immediately become extremely popular – perhaps even too popular. This powerful processor is sold out almost everywhere in the US and across Europe, which has led to abuse by resellers who are putting it up for sale at a price of almost $1500 with an official price of $480.
The new Ryzen 7 9800X3D is a breath of fresh air for users who are disappointed with AMD Zen 5 and Intel Arrow Lake processors. It is performed well in games, outperforming Intel 14900K by 27% and Core Ultra 9 285K by 33%. It is not surprising that it has become so popular and scarce so quickly – it is as difficult to buy it now as a high-end graphics card in 2021.
On the websites of Newegg, Best Buy, Amazon, B&H Photo, Walmart, and most Micro Center stores, the new AMD processor is displayed as sold out. The situation is the same in Europe: in the German market, large retailers sold out of Ryzen 7 9800X3D before new shipments arrived, and Mindfactory even stopped accepting pre-orders. In the UK, Scan and Overclockers UK retailers have also sold out of the processor, and the next batches are expected only at the end of the month.
As is often the case when demand far exceeds supply, ads with inflated prices for AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D have appeared on eBay. The most greedy seller wants $1500 for the processor, which is 212% more than its retail price. Other offers range from $645 to $999, mostly from pre-orders that have not even been delivered to sellers yet.
