Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige spoke remotely at the Disney APAC Content Showcase in Singapore and talked a lot about the future of the MCU cinematic universe and the return of the X-Men.
According to Feige, fans will see «some X-Men that you may recognize» in the next few MCU films. He didn’t specify who or where, but emphasized «Avengers: Secret Wars»to be released in 2027, after «Avengers: Judgment Day» with Robert Downey Jr у 2026. The Marvel boss did not hide his emotions:
«I think you’ll see that continue in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you may recognize. Right after that, the whole «Secret Wars» story really takes us into a new era of mutants and X-Men. Again, this is one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back!».
Feige has previously said that the X-Men will be an important part of the future MCU after «Secret Wars»:
«When we were preparing for «Avengers: Endgame» many years ago, there was the issue of getting to the big finale of our story and then having to start all over again. This time around, on the road to «Secret Wars», we already know very well what the story will be like by then, and this is an important part of that future».
One of the upcoming Marvel movies will be «Fantastic Four: The First Steps», which is due out on July 25, 2025. The movie will launch the sixth phase of the MCU, which will be produced by Feige. Work on a restart «of the Fantastic Four» have been in the works since at least 2017, and the current iteration has been in production for most of 2024. Kevin Feige even appeared at the event wearing a blue cap dedicated to him:
«We’re finally introducing the first Marvel family into the MCU. They’re wrapping up next week, the movie will be out next summer, and then all of these characters will go right into the next Avengers movies, so I’m really excited about the future of the Fantastic Four»
Feige noted «Thunderbirds*», which will be released in May 2025. In the movie, a group of anti-heroes carry out missions for the US government:
«This is what Marvel is all about. Taking characters from different places and franchises and putting them together. That’s what «Avengers» is, that’s what «Guardians of the Galaxy» is.
The President of Marvel commented «Deadpool and Wolverine»:
«When we first started working on the movie, we wanted to see Wolverine in a yellow suit. I got goosebumps on the set when he came out in that costume and put on that mask for the first time. I waited 25 years to realize this. … We were very excited to see Ryan Reynolds bring the R-rating to Disney. It was fun».
In October, Marvel Studios added three untitled movies to its 2028 schedule: February 18, 2028; May 5, 2028; and November 10, 2028. It is likely that one of them is «X-Men».
